Confused About Paint Sheens?
When it comes to painting your home, the question of which sheens to use can be confusing.
Here is a list of the common sheens of interior paints.
Flat or Matte. This is the lowest sheen, offering a non-reflective, velvety finish. It's great for hiding imperfections on walls and ceilings, but it's less durable and harder to clean. Flat is an excellent choice for accent walls and ceilings, but it may not be suitable for walls if children live in the home.
Eggshell. Slightly more reflective than flat or matte, eggshell provides a subtle, soft sheen. It strikes a good balance between hiding imperfections and being washable. Egshell is an excellent choice for active homes with children or where washability is essential.
Satin. A step up in shine from eggshell, satin has a smooth, velvety appearance. It's more durable and easier to clean, but may be too shiny for many customers
Semi-gloss. More reflective and durable than the other choices, semi-gloss is primarily used for doors, trim, and kitchen cabinets.
